"Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb."
Have you ever been called or invited to a grand wedding reception? Did you pay special attention to the fine details of the invite such as the "inviter"; the dress code; the venue, and the time? Were you required to RSVP? Well, Jesus has an invitation for you... 'Come! "Blessed are they which are called..."'
"Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb."
Revelation 19:9
The Greek word for "called" is word #2561 which means "to call" or "invite" someone to something. Jesus illustrates this call through the use of a profound Biblical parable. According to Matthew 22:3,2, "A certain king, [God, the Father] made a marriage for His Son"[Jesus]. What would a wedding be like without guests?
So [He] the King sent His servants with invitations to call the guests to the wedding reception of all centuries. Saying, "Come, all things are ready". Luke 14:17.
Everyone was given a beautiful linen garment, clean and bright to be worn. This represented the righteousness of the saints according to Revelation 19:8.
Jesus first makes a call to repentance with an invitation to the wedding. In Matthew 9:13, He says, "I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance," --to put off their filthy garments, for the white robe of his righteousness, that they could sit at the marriage supper of the Lamb of God. Revelation 19:9; Matthew 22:33.
"Jesus saw in every soul one to whom must be given the call to His kingdom". Desire of Ages, page 151. "I am so excited because "every soul" includes you and me!
“For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:” I Corinthians 1:26. If every soul has been called, why then this seeming contradiction? "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God...Romans 3:23., therefore we must accept the invitation to repentance which gives us access to the banqueting hall [Heaven]..
Are You Called?
"Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:" 1 Corinthians 1:2 KJV. We are called to be saints. Not only saints, but we are also called unto His kingdom and glory. What does this mean?
"For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness". That "He may stablish your hearts unblamable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints." 1 Thessalonians 2:12;
1 Thessalonians 4:7; 1 Peter 1:15,16, I Thessalonians 3:13.
And again, “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, [holiness] ...that ye should abstain from fornication:” “That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel [body temple] in sanctification [holiness unto the Lord- Exodus 28:36] and honour;” I Thessalonians 4:3,4
As soon as the Bride [God's people] was sanctified... cleansed from sin, and was reflecting the Bridegroom[Christ], there was a midnight cry... a cry of deliverance!
“And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; "
He [Christ]is coming for His Bride, washed in His blood, made clean and white [bright]. Clothed in fine linen which is the righteousness of the saints. Matthew 25:6; Revelation 19:8
"Behold, thou art fair, my love; behold, thou art fair;..." "Thou art beautiful, O my love," clothe in My righteousness, you are as "fair as the moon, clear as the sun," Come to my banqueting house, sit at my table and I will put my banner of love over you. I will serve you, for you have kept my commandments as I have commanded you. Song of Solomon 4:1; 6:4,10...
a call of love...
My friends the call to repentance is also a call of love. Jesus loves you and wants to spend eternity with you. Won't you accept His invitation of love? "Soon we heard his lovely voice again, saying, "Come my people, you have come out of great tribulation, and done my will; suffered for me; Come into Supper, for I will gird Myself, and serve you." Revelation 7:14; Early Writings, page 19. Perhaps you may understand HIs call better through the pen of Solomon: "My son [daughter], give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways." Proverbs 23:26. Won't you come?
"And He saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God." Revelation 19:9.
