Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee.

Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.

Psalms 63:3,4

The Thanksgiving holiday has mixed reviews. Some people choose not to celebrate it because of its history: The theft of land from the American Indians. Others are happy to erase the tarnished portfolio by creating new memories. Whatever the negative association, there is something to be thankful for this day and every single day.

Families and friends everywhere gather together in deep appreciation for the respite from the slavish pace of intense labor, study, or other stressful experiences. They gladly welcome the time to pray, laugh, sing, eat, and refresh themselves for a new season.

Advent Christians briefly reflect on how Satan cheated our ancestors out of their land by usurping Adam's authority allowing sin to breach the mortgage contract. They are grateful for Jesus who reconciled the delinquent account by His death on Calvary. Excitedly, they look forward to when they will no longer feel cheated out of their heavenly inheritance: the sweet Beulah land where all of God’s family will eternally unite in ceaseless thanksgiving.

During this season of Thanksgiving, Jesus has made it possible for men, women, and children worldwide to enjoy the blessings that come each day. He makes it possible for us to build beautiful new memories and relationships as we count our blessings one by one.

We should not waste time nursing old hurts, grudges, or unforgiveness but thinking about: "How may I, from this moment, love God more and share that love impactfully with those around me?" Hug, cry, laugh, reminisce, and testify of good things because tomorrow is not promised to any one of us. Every moment is precious.

"And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse."

Malachi 4:6 KJV

Today hold your family and friends close but embrace God more closely. Appreciate them but remember that God has been faithful beyond the collective ages of all present. Praise and thank Him "a million" times for His loving kindness that is better than life.

Following this format guarantees a very Happy Thanksgiving indeed.

Prayer:  Dear Lord, saying Thank You a million times is not enough for the countless ways You seek to bring families together and provide opportunities for healing. May we make good use of everyone, amen.

Amen, thanks for sharing. We should not waste time nursing old hurts, grudges, or unforgiveness but thinking about: "How may I, from this moment, love God more and share that love impactfully with those around me?"

I appreciate this.
