1 Samuel 30:6-8

Have you ever been in a situation where you thought there was no way out? That no matter what you tried, it just didn't work out? You failed your exam again; you lost another job, or you still haven't found a job, even after searching for years? You tried so hard, but your relationship still failed... your marriage ended in divorce; your children still chose the world over Jesus, or your business is just not "making the cut"? You or your loved ones keep getting sick, and you're down, feel like quitting, or giving up? I have five powerful words for you... ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD.

I left behind an ocean.

I traveled on countless plains.

I dipped into myriads of valleys

again and again.

I hiked up steep smooth mountains,

And some rugged ones too,

I am continuing to sip from God's fountain,

Looking forward and not backwards,

it is goodbye for me and you.

I am ready for a new tomorrow,

I look forward to bigger and better things.

Why keep limiting my potential,

Because of what someone else may think!

“Lean not on your own understanding,”

Quit thinking “inside the box”.

What God wants, go after it

Time is ticking… Don’t live another’s

dream… Go forward, don’t stop!

Press on… PRESS ON!

Keep climbing Peter’s ladder.

Have faith, HAVE FAITH…

Don’t get tired now,

Keep climbing...

God is waiting at the top!

I want so much more than earthly success,

Though this is important too,

I strive much more for His virtue, knowledge,

temperance, and patience…

Godliness, brotherly kindness,

and His agape-beauty, true.

Dear friend, whatever your mountain, scale it.  No matter how rough your ocean may be, swim it! Life is a series of ups and downs… take your umbrella and beat the rain, don’t let the rain beat you. Don’t allow challenging experiences of your life to cripple your faith, be patient with God’s process to help you through all of them triumphantly! Encourage yourself in the Lord.

My soul, wait thou only upon God; For my expectation is from him.

He only is my rock and my salvation: He is my defence;

I shall not be moved.

In God is my salvation and my glory: The rock of my strength,

and my refuge, is in God.

Trust in him at all times; ye people, Pour out your heart before him:

God is a refuge for us.

Psalm 62:5-8

Prayer:  Lord, as David encouraged himself in You when the Amalekites burned Ziglag and took even his own family captive, inspire us to be strong. The people wanted to stone David, and he probably felt like the biggest failure during that moment. Sometimes we feel the same in our varied circumstances. Help us on challenging days to look up, and don’t be discouraged. You are near. You have even better things than what we may currently desire. In Jesus’ name, Amen. [song]
