Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? He retaineth not his anger forever, because he delighteth in mercy. Micah 7:18
Have you ever felt that life is unfair for the kindhearted, the patient, the loving, and the thoughtful person? Perhaps you feel at times that the nice guy or girl never wins!
Maybe you bent over backward on the job and someone else gets the credit or the promotion. In school, you may have helped someone with their work or have been their very best friend and they turn around and stab you in the back to become a part of the "popular crowd".
Perhaps in your marriage, you have been a thoughtful spouse, always going the extra mile, loving your husband or wife like a king or queen, and they end up being unfaithful or ungrateful. Are you the dutiful son or daughter, who no matter what you do, your parent is never proud, or favors "Esau" and has almost no time for you? Maybe you were or are in a relationship where you give your all in the hopes of being permanently united, but your "significant other" doesn't think you are significant. By his or her actions, you never seem to measure up? There is always a bag of excuses as to why not. Yet even when you correct the "nots" you are never good enough?
Give it to God... He is the expert who knows how to adjust every problem perfectly. He is merciful when you have no mercy left to give. He is kindness when yours have become depleted. Life may seem unfair, and your feelings may have been or is currently been trampled on the ground. Your heart is broken and you are looking for a way out. Sometimes that is the best route. You may have to let go of all that you can without jeopardizing others. At times there is no easy way out, after all even though you may avoid your family, you can never ever get rid of them (LOL). Cheer up... God is the great Mender of relationships that are important and He is also the expert Ender of all the relationships that sucks up your joyful spirit.
Trust Him to decipher which ones to end or to mend today. If we are honest we make a mess because we sometimes choose the wrong solution. You will never be disappointed as you wait for Him. He is strengthening and preparing you for either outcome He deems best. Until then do these four mental health exercises:
Keep asking the Expert and do exactly as He counsels, even when it seems hard.
Forgive often: it keeps your heart pure and Christlike.
Pass by the cold transgressions of both family members, potential spouses, and strangers: sometimes they are pawns in Satan's hand and don't even know it.
Retain not your anger forever, because you delight in mercy. Anger rots your heart, makes you bitter, and deflects all the blessings that God wants to restore.
Today, face your situation, no matter what it may be with new confidence! Have a marvelous day.
