Billions of people feverishly anticipate Christmas as the absolutely “Most Wonderful Time of the Year!” You can hear silver bells, wedding bells, thousands of carols (whether they sound good or not), and children’s joyful laughter peeling happily throughout the air.
Don’t you love the smell of evergreen trees and the beauty of snow-white leaves? What about gorgeous decorations, and entrancing lights everywhere in circles, spheres, lines– a plethora of geometric designs? On that day, people snuggle in cashmere wool and cozy warm sweaters drinking hot beverages topped with cinnamon-whipped butter. Families and guests travel from far and near, bringing good gifts and holiday cheer! Some come to celebrate Jesus, while others just for fun, but whatever their reasons, they strive to enjoy the yearly festive season.
Yet Christmas is not the most wonderful time of year for me. The most wonderful time of the year is the 7th day of the week! It comes at the end of each laborious week when I pull down the sky to close out the sun and welcome the company of the heavenly Son.
I am sure that Saturdays are not just special for me but for countless hearts that are free of this world’s vanity. On Friday eves at sunset families, individuals and guests lay down all their cares, concerns, and stress to welcome spending quality time with Jesus as the Best of the best. During this time Christian music and melody fill every room- pianos, cellos, and the voice of the Groom. Millions raise their voices in grateful thanksgiving. Many hearts bow in worship praising the King. Our minds are supremely happy as we offer gold, silver, and “all of who we are” in exchange for His matchless beauty and all the wonderful gifts that He alone brings!
Everywhere we have decorated with our very best- clean linens, soft tea lights, fragrant candles, and dress. We offer nothing less for our master but the best from our treasure chests: festive foods, delicious desserts, hot beverages with carob-melted toppings, or honey-sweetened herbal mirths. Nothing can top the children’s pure laughter like silver bells peeling joyfully with love throughout the air. Whatever your persuasion, you will surely agree that sacred time spent with Jesus is eternally sweet. The Sabbath refreshes our lives as we sit at His feet while He transforms our hearts, and fills us with glee! Sabbath comes once every week, but Christmas appears only once in the long drawn-out year. Whew! If we had to wait soooo long for just one day of spiritual and physical rejuvenation, we would surely be exhausted and be in painful consternation!
Which one do you think is the most wonderful time of the year? Christmas or the Sabbath? For which one will you cheer? Christmas is festive and fun, but the weekly Sabbath wins thumbs up in my book. Every seven days I sit in this temple made by time, reaping amazing dividends with benefits that outlast and transcend this world. Happy Sabbath!
If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the Lord, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the Lord; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it. Isaiah 58:13, 14

Amen sister, the sabbath is really like Christmas, looking forward to your birthday, so happy that you lived to see another big beautiful day that our Lord has sanctified for us to send with him with the happiness of innocence of a innocent child.
Beautiful and a wonderful reminder of what Sabbath is and its importance. I love the beautiful picture, so peaceful and serene. God Bless.
