Confidence From An Unexpected Source

Updated: Sep 30, 2023

If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;

Job 31: 24

In my previous devotional blogs, I spoke about how God used 3 separate experiences to help me build a stronger faith in Him as my provider and not faith in money being my God or my crutch. The first two were shopping experiences, but the other was of a different ilk.

Sometimes in life, God helps us to draw confidence in Him from unexpected places.

I needed a base from which to operate the ministry, but every time I thought I would acquire one... it would slip beyond my reach. "Lord you asked me to do this...so what should I do?"

The testimony of a young evangelist was the final cementer to prove that God had not left me but wanted to get my attention while I was being a busy bee for His glory. He spoke about how he acquired his ministry base. He went to Missouri to look at the land, he wasn't convinced it was the land he was supposed to have until the following day of his visit. He told the owner that he was interested in the land; the Lord wanted the owner to give it to him for free. The man agreed but asked him how he would build the ministry base, and he answered him... "the same way the Lord gave me the land for free." By trust and obedience.

In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence: and his children shall have a place of refuge. Proverbs 14:26

For the Lord shall be thy confidence, and shall keep thy foot from being taken. Proverbs 3:26

God was trying to remind me that I don't need to try so hard to launch Narda Pella; find a base for Pella ... find resources or funds or personnel. He will take care of my needs and even my desires... all without me stressing about "how?"

God gave me five (5) tips for true success:

  • He reminded me that "the just shall live by faith and not by money (sight).

  • Have you done what I have required?

  • Then trust and obey. Search for a new place. Roadblocks are in the way on all sides. I can do all things. Keep your faith in me and I will remove your mountains, all at once or bit by bit.

  • Stand still and see the salvation ( power) of God work mightily in your life! Exodus 14:13.

  • Look up and away from your roadblocks and keep your eyes fixed on me: Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord forever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength: Isaiah 26:3,4.

I embraced the reminder, and for the first time in weeks, I was not discouraged about my finances. I was super empowered. My prayer was:

I will wait on You Lord and be of good courage. I will be still

and know that You are God and nothing is too hard for you.

When I can't hear you, let your care for me in small and great things

remind me that you are still here beside me.

Guess what? God is also still beside you in your many struggles of faith. Trust Him when the sky seems to be falling and the walls of doubt begin to suffocate you. Laugh in Satan's face and remind Him that God will hold you fast. Stand strong in faith's victory!

P.S. God opened the doors for me to have a base to start -up the ministry. (Have a little sneak peek below).

And this is the confidence that we have in Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, he heareth us: 1 John 5:14
